The Triple E Framework, developed by Liz Kolb, could seamlessly be integrated into my district to provide guidance and technological support to enhance instructional practices. My district offers an abundance of educational-based platforms for teachers and students to use; however, knowing which educational tool to use to best support students and their learning goals can be a daunting task. Using the Triple E Framework for lesson design can assist in relieving some of that stress while ensuring teachers have considered how the use of technology will affect students' outcomes.
The Triple E framework aims to facilitate the integration between educational technologies and teaching practices in the classroom. The Triple E Framework is an effective guide for teachers to consider the overall effectiveness of the technology they plan on integrating into their lessons. The ultimate goal of the Triple E Framework is to ensure that technology is effectively aiding students in meeting their current learning objectives. The framework focuses on three major components- engagement, enhancement, and extension.
With the rise of educational technology in classroom settings and an abundance of choices to choose from, the Triple E Framework rubric can assist teachers in choosing the right technologies to best meet the learning outcomes of their students. The Triple E Framework acknowledges that not all technology is right for every situation and provides teachers with the tools to assess and designate technology that provides collaborative, engaging, and authentic ways of learning.
The Triple E Framework aligns with best practices for students' success. In my district, teachers have the autonomy to make curriculum decisions that we think would best aid our students' growth and mastery of a subject. Using the framework will allow teachers to use students' data, outcomes, and products to consider the best ways to incorporate technology into lessons.
The Triple E Framework is extremely relevant to educators, especially in the ever-changing technological world. So many new apps and platforms are always popping up. However, just because something is new does not always mean that it promotes student learning and success. Using the Triple E Framework rubric for lesson design can enable teachers to assess and make informed decisions on the effectiveness of technology use in their classrooms.
Incorporating the Triple E Framework into lesson design can assist teachers in ensuring that the technology they choose to incorporate addresses the ISTE standards. When teachers choose to integrate technology that is engaging, enhancing, and can be extended, they enable students to be empowered learners, conceptual thinkers, creative communicators, and digital citizens.
In the state of Texas, teachers are evaluated using TTESS. Components of TTESS include planning, instruction, learning environment, and professional practices and responsibilities. Using the Triple E Framework in my lesson design will assist in having a student-centered, collaborative classroom environment where students have opportunities for differentiated learning. Using the framework will provide teachers with the tools needed to boost academic performance and obtain more favorable results during the evaluation process.

Danna, I enjoyed reading your post and agree with your assessment of Triple E. I often have a difficult time keeping track of all the available tech tools. Things change quickly and often in technology. I'm glad that your district allows teachers flexibility in determining the curriculum.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, Danna!
Things change so quickly with technology that my school district is currently attempting to swim against the tide and abandon most technology and computers in classroom use due to fears of AI. I feel like it's an overcorrection and we'll swing back next year.
